“Acceptance”…..doesn’t sound very exciting at first, does it?
It sounds like a passive thing, acceptance. Like backing down, a sit-down-and-shut-up sort of action to be “accepting” of a situation.
But I assure you, it’s not. Actually, it is one of the biggest and the brightest gifts you can give yourself. To fully accept YOURSELF….and what you REALLY dream about doing.
What do I mean when I say that acceptance is essential to what it is that you really want in life? I mean this:
To know what it is and see it without judgement…..or without trying to change it. Just let it be what it is. THAT is acceptance.
And then allow yourself to LOVE it. Let it become the part of you that it already IS. And let it fully come out and express itself.
Here’s the deal: being honest with yourself about what you REALLY want really is the FIRST step.
That thing in this world that brings you the HIGHEST joy and would make you insanely happy and fulfilled? Well, THAT is the kind of thing that I’m talking about. THAT is what you really want.
Those kinds of feelings are what leads you to who you really are and why you’re really here.
BUT….when you realize what that thing actually IS, you might stop right there.
It might seem foolish. Frivolous. Impossible. Maybe even downright scary. Or even WRONG! (And by “wrong” I mean too embarrassing to admit to wanting…what the hell would people THINK of me if I told them I wanted THAT??!)
So you go the “safer” route and start the business that you think you “should” start. Rather than focusing on your TRUE motivations and passions.
I’m here to tell you that this will ONLY lead to lukewarm feelings and flailing dreams.
What you really want is there for a REASON.
If you want it that much that you’re afraid to admit what it is and put it in charge, chances are that it is one of your HIGHEST callings. The kind of calling that’ll lead you to your TRUE reason for being here in this life. Something that should be embraced and not ignored.
But one of the hardest things to do is to ACCEPT it first. (You know, “your mission, should you decide to accept it”?) 😉
You do have a choice. You don’t HAVE to accept it. You could go on indefinitely skirting the issue, dabbling in this and that, and trying every formula for success that comes along….but it’ll only take you so far.
In the end, it’s better to be HONEST. Honor yourself. Honor your dreams, no matter HOW foolish, silly, or impossible they might seem.
It’s the first step to GREATNESS.
