It wasn’t too long ago that I was at a BIG crossroads in life. It was an epic decision between head and heart. At least that’s what it seemed to be. (I was to learn that it was more about what I allowed myself to believe….but I’ll get to that!)
I wanted so badly to divorce the corporate job and go do what I really believed in as my full-time business. I felt that I might finally be ready to make the jump I’d been promising myself for so long.
You’d think I would’ve been charging the hill yelling “Geronimo!” at that point.
Well, I wasn’t. Instead, I was hesitating.
The thing was, I believed in my big business idea well enough….but something was missing. I didn’t quite believe in myself. Not the way that I knew I needed to, that is.
How did I know this? It was BECAUSE I was so cautious and hesitant.
Now, everybody tells you that you have to “believe in yourself”. And it is absolutely true. In fact, believing in yourself is EVERYTHING.
So why don’t we all just DO that and be done with it?
You see, no matter how well-intentioned it is, it’s awfully hard to simply be told to believe something and expect it to stick just like that. Even if it IS to “believe in yourself”.
(Trust me, I tried. Really hard.)
Why is this true?
Because this relies a little bit too much on your mind–and your mind alone–to get it done.
The thing is, believing in yourself and in your true calling isn’t something that your mind can do for you all by itself. It needs some help.
You have to remember your inherent worthiness. Know your true gifts and just how important they really are. Not only for yourself but also for the world. Believe that it all is TRUE.
You must remember that YOU are part of the infinite Universe, and what you do MATTERS.
This doesn’t come from the mind…it comes from the heart and Soul. It comes from getting back to who you really are, not just who your ego thinks that you are.
This is how you truly believe.
Once that happens, this whole “believe in yourself” to-do becomes more than just a cliched punchline. You actually start to DO it.
After that, the fears and doubts may show up, but they don’t stay as long.
You’ll not only be more confident but also be better equipped to handle whatever business or life throws at you.
Only then will the clarity and confidence around your dream business idea start to become a reality. THIS is when the magic starts to happen.
It just requires that you get a little bit “out of your mind”! 😉
