So this weekend I finished the Gilmore Girls reboot. Three days (I tried to take it slowly), four episodes, BIG shockers.

I know, I’m not going to spoil it for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, I promised that in the beginning. But the point here?

Once again, I was totally BLOWN away by my reaction to a fandom. Seriously, this is a TELEVISION SHOW! What does that have to do with me? And why was I all jacked up like Lorelai on her 5th cup of coffee when it ended?

But then I remembered THIS–why this story and SO many others are so important. It’s the Power of Myth. Ask the millions of fans who freaked out over “The Force Awakens”, the Season 6 Finale of Game of Thrones, or those of us who STILL debate what the real messages were in “Pride and Prejudice” and “Mansfield Park”.

So often we look to books, TV shows, movies, and fandoms to help us explain life. To give us hope. Provide something to relate to. Maybe make it all make a lot more sense.

But what often happens is that when you hit on the right show, book, movie, or whatever at the right moment… tells you just what you need to know when you need to know it.

Like this one right here: sometimes a story that looks like it’s over is FAR from it. Sometimes a thing that looks like it’s come to a perfect conclusion is just another step on the pathway.

Sometimes when it seems like you should have it ALL figured out (especially by a “certain age”), life comes at ya and reminds you that you know NOTHING, Jon Snow.

But here’s the deal… comes at you as a string of circumstances. Situations. Stories set up by you to be told in such a way that it leads you to something. A lesson. A challenge. A question.

Your part is the ANSWER.

Sometimes there’s no controlling the ride. The ride is what it is, and it’s ALWAYS for a reason.

What that reason is and what the answer is? Up to you to figure out and to provide, respectively.

You can struggle against your circumstances when you think they’re bad. You can revel too much in them when you believe that they’re good.

But like SO many have said over the years (though it’s not really known who said it first)

THIS too, shall pass.

That’s just it.

Circumstances ALWAYS pass. They ALWAYS change. Whether you like it or not. They’re ALWAYS what you need them to be….if you’re willing to listen.

And if you’re not–if for whatever reason you’re resisting the lesson–they’ll be back to teach it to you. If not now, then later. Guaranteed.

That’s it right there–CIRCUMSTANCES change. Don’t bank your eternal happiness on them. Seriously.

What CAN you bank it on, then? Simple. YOU.

It’s the YOU that you are right now, the you that is an extension of LOVE right here on earth, that you can count on.

The very best version of you is the one who can accept circumstances, look beyond the ego, and see the lesson in it all. Learn it. Know it. Live it.

And move on to the next thing, being in the moment but connected to the eternal.

Is this easy? NO way.

Is it worth it?

Nothing else is, My friends.

Get in touch with your SOUL being….remember you connection to Spirit….and it will be a LOT easier not only deal with the slings and arrows of life but also to see WHY they’re there in the first place.

I know, I know….I got all of this out of the last 5 minutes of an episode of Gilmore Girls when Rory said…….

Just kidding! I won’t do THAT to you! 😉
