I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO FEEL….”DIFFERENT”. At least to feel different when it comes to going after your big dreams.
But I bet I’m not the only one. In fact, I KNOW I’m not alone in that. Dreams sure are a VERY personal thing. Nobody is here for exactly the same purpose. Going for what you want isn’t going to be like anyone else going for THEIR big thing in life.
Yeah, you gotta be yourself. Do things YOUR way. In fact, that’s what we ALL say. (‘Cause of course, it’s true, isn’t it?)
Still, for all the lip-service this world gives to being independent, unique, and all-you, I still see a LOT of contradictions out there.
Sure, be yourself, but don’t let anybody think you’re weird. Take your own path, but only if everyone else is doing it the same way. Go after the business and life dreams that YOU want, but as long as the experts approve!
Doesn’t really add up, does it?
But then again, getting stuck in seeking everyone else’s approval is HARDLY the worst of it. In fact, most of the duty-bound, “should-itis” out there is NOT as much about what other people think about you as it is what YOU think about you.
Sometimes the nastiest rules out there are the ones we impose on OURSELVES. (And a lot of the time without even realizing it!).
I bet you got into business to do your own thing, to be your own person, and to do the big thing you’ve always dreamed of doing…..but then it comes time to actually DO it, and what happens?
You start to wonder if what you REALLY are is good enough. If anyone will laugh at you or will tell you you’re doing it wrong. Or even take issue with what you want to do in the first place.
You might even be afraid to own up to YOURSELF what it is that you want to be doing, getting stuck in the worry that it won’t be “good enough”!
When I finally admitted that ALL I really truly wanted was simply to free people to go after their TRUE dreams without apology, it was more of a shock than I expected. Seriously, ME, of all people, who knew exactly what she wanted to do the minute she started her business?
That’s the thing, though. I knew deep down the kind of coach I wanted to be. For some reason I couldn’t accept it. It was as though what I wanted to be just wasn’t….well, “good enough”. Never mind what my heart and Soul were yearning for.
When I finally acknowledged the WHAT of the matter, and I was finally not only OK with it but GOOD with it, well, the purpose started falling into place.
You might be at the “what” stage, too. You might believe that you don’t know what you want. Maybe it’s been lost all these years. Maybe it’s under a mountain of “have-to’s” and “shoulds” and you haven’t spoken to it since God was a boy. But I promise you, it’s still there. It’s depending on you to find it, set it free, and let it breathe again.
It’s dying for your acceptance, your love, and your attention. There’s really only one choice, here.
Are you ready to make that choice? Are you ready to really look at what you’ve got, take all the lessons from it, and get down and dirty with the REAL you? Be totally and insanely honest about who that is? And get the guidance to not only get you there but also show you that it’s OK to LOVE who that person is and who she wants to be?
Tell me all about it! What do YOU want to be, and what would it mean to you to go after it?
