A LOT of big dreams go by the wayside for a lot of different reasons. But there is one BIG thing that tends to stop them before they start more than ANY other one.

What is it that squashes dreams before they start, more often than not? Fear.

Sure, you know that. But fear of WHAT, exactly? What could be so scary that you decide NOT to trust your gut, NOT take a chance, or NOT believe in yourself? Why wouldn’t you just want to run off and live by every single quote box on Pinterest?

It’s more that just a vague and undefinable fear.

It’s the FEAR of what others think. And it counts for MANY faces of good ol’ fashioned f-e-a-r.

Everything–hesitation, embarrassment, comparisonitis, worry of how you’re gonna look–all comes from the same place. The fear of what others might think, say, or do. ALL of these dream-assassins can be traced back to worry about what other people think. Period.

When you think about it for a moment, stopping (or not even starting) what you really want to do it doesn’t seem to be worth it if THAT is the only thing in your way. Why would anybody let someone else’s opinion keep them from something as important as being the person they’ve always wanted to be?

But like many things, it’s not always that easy. We all want to be understood, appreciated, accepted, and loved for who we are. It’s just in our nature.

If you believe that there’s any chance you won’t be understood, accepted, or loved, for being the true you, that might be enough to give anybody a moment of pause. Seriously, what happens if people laugh? Or worse, what if you’re ridiculed? Or even hated?

Worst of all, you might find yourself worrying that people might not love you if they knew the REAL you….so you do nothing at all.

So what is the endgame when you put others in charge of how you live your life? If you REALLY let that fear of what others think call the shots?

Simple. You put others in charge of YOUR life. They own you. No matter whether it’s a boss, a parent, a spouse or a friend. What you do becomes THEIR call, not yours.

Pretty harsh stuff, huh?

Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. The thing is, there’s a real true reason why the REAL you wants what it wants. Why the real you feels the need to be what you want to be.

Most of all, the things that light you up the MOST are the things that the world needs you to share. Truly.

What the rest of the world might think about that is really not your problem.

Of course, this isn’t always easy. To not only know what you want, but also to go after it regardless of what the world might say? Not quite a snap.

It takes courage. It takes self-awareness. Most of all, it takes accepting and trusting in the SOUL being who you truly are.

Once you are solid in this, anything is possible.

You’ll have moments where you want to go back to what you know. There will be times when you’ll wonder if it’s worth it to go for it all. It’ll take practice to see both yourself and the world in a whole new way.

But once you do that–once you learn to trust in the REAL you and see not only what is possible but also what is doable, you can do BRILLIANT things.

This is how I help my clients. I help you trust in the person you ARE, trust in what it is you came here to do, and make BIG things happen. Doing it YOUR way. Nobody else’s.

Glad you appreciate it! It’s a complicated thing, knowing how you feel about what other people think. And it’s so funny how it gets into just about every aspect of life, too! But there are ways to not let it mean so much…and learn from it when it does happen. I’ll be talking about that more in the weeks to come!
