So y’all know me by now. I’m the MISSION queen. That’s what I do. That’s my jam. I want you to see this business you are dreaming about starting as more than just a way to stick it to the corporate Man. I want you to see it as the MISSION you were born to carry out.

I mean, sure, it is imperative to have freedom. And freedom from the corporate grind is something that I believe in BIG time. No question.

But what do you replace said corporate grind WITH? One thing I believe for certain. When it comes to it, your business needs to have a PURPOSE. One that you stand by with all that you are. The raison d’être. The Cause Celebre. THAT.BIG.THING. In short, your life’s MISSION.

I know, I know…no pressure, right? 😉

Sounds like a pretty big and scary thing to figure out, doesn’t it? Sounds like a LOT of pressure, right? I mean, seriously, if this Mission thing isTHAT important, what happens if I get it wrong? Or, for the love of all that is Holy, if I don’t even KNOW what it is???

MissionStatementNoPressure

Does this mean a flatline for my dreams? Does it mean I’ll never be more than a corporate drone all my life after all? Does it mean I can’t even carry out my freaking life’s purpose?? (Because if I can’t even figure out what it IS then how the hell am I supposed to carry it out???)

Absolutely not! NOT at all. It just means two things:

-You might be struggling too hard to answer the question (thereby pushing the answer away)

-You might be looking for the answer in the wrong place (hint: anywhere outside of your own heart) 😉

When I find myself hitting that kind of wall (about anything, actually!), here’s a few tricks I’ve used to get past the resistance and get the good stuff coming back to me:

Stop asking for a moment. Stop insisting upon an answer in the next 5 minutes. The Universe isn’t big on demands, but tends to prefer…well, intentions. And trust. And then action after that. Step away from the computer, put the journal down for a moment, and come back to the NOW.

Alternatively, look deep into the confusion. Suspend the need for an answer and THEN simply state what is bothering you. Turn it into a statement rather than an indictment of your entire life. An NEUTRAL statement. Then see what comes up next.

Get some SOLID physical activity going. Yep, move. Get to the gym. Blast out the stagnant energy. Kick some ass. Better yet, do something active and outside. Get out of your head any way you can and let all of the energy points (i.e. chakras) in your body reboot. After all, when your computer flips out, isn’t a reboot the default answer to everything? (And doesn’t it frequently solve the problem?)

These are my go-to tips for blasting through the ick and getting back to where the good stuff can find you!

What is your favorite way to blast past an existential funk and let the truth about your life’s Mission (and your dream business) come forth? I would love to hear about what works for you!

Share away! It’s pretty important stuff, as far as I’m concerned, to know what it is that drives you besides wanting to be free. There’s always more to it than that. And also not to get too bogged down in figuring it out immediately, too–that only leads to frustration! One step at a time but know what the goal is.
